Jul 5, 2021 Teachers to Vote on Options for Reduced Hours; Salary Court Case Begins July 16th The Belize City Branch of the Belize National Teachers Union issued an update to its membership today informing them that the virtual court hearing on the claim filed about the ten percent salary cut is scheduled for July sixteenth. The release also noted that the union will be collaborating with the Ministry of Health to conduct a health fair on the COVID-19 vaccine. Also according to the internal memo, the Ministry of Education has presented teachers with three options to work five hours less each week. The first option is to reduce each workday by one hour. The second option is to utilize a four-day work week and a blended learning approach. The third and final option is to utilize a half-hour earlier dismissal from Monday to Thursday, and half-day off on Fridays.
