Regardless of my absence [on June 6], a First Investigation Report (FIR) was launched against me. I got interim bail and despite that the police raided my house and picked [up] two of my cousins,” recounted a frustrated Baksh. ....
KARACHI: A multiparty conference (MPC) on Sunday termed Bahria Town Karachi (BTK) “illegal and unconstitutional” and unanimously rejected it as an anti-Sindh project which, it said, was a modern form of colonisation. Representatives of nationalist parties of Sindh and Balochistan, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Communist Party attended the event held on the outskirts of the city in Hadi Bux Gabol Goth on the call of the Indigenous Rights Alliance. The MPC also demanded cancellation of 500 FIRs registered against villagers and action against police officers. A resolution adopted by the participants said that the BTK had illegally occupied lands and demanded that the construction works be stopped. ....

Held at the outskirts of Karachi s Gadap Town in Hadi Bux Gabol Goth on the call of the Indigenous Rights Alliance and attended by the PML-N and nationalist parties from Sindh and Balochistan, the APC resolution said: BTK had illegally occupied lands and it’s construction work should be stopped. “We consider it as a form of colonialism in the 21st century which is worse than the colonialism of the 18th century,” it added. “We believe that BTK is part of [the] invasion of global capitalism. ....
