Finalists named for Colorado 10th Judicial District Court judge vacancy


Colorado Gov. Jared Polis has until May 13 to select from three finalists advanced by a selecting committee to serve as a judge in the 10th Judicial District of Colorado.
The finalists for the position are Steven Laman, of Pueblo, who is also currently a Pueblo County magistrate in Division 305; Timothy O Shea, of Pueblo, a personal injury attorney working with the Fuicelli & Lee practice where he leads the Southern Colorado office; and Margaret Vellar, of Pueblo, a senior deputy district attorney in the 4th Judicial District of Colorado who was named the Colorado District Attorneys Council Prosecutor of the Year in 2019. ....

Now, the 73-year-old retiree is working with kids again, spurred on by the heartbreaking, months-long journey unaccompanied minor asylum seekers must endure to reach South Texas.
She wanted to help, so she’s now among the volunteers assisting with some 2,000 teenage boys housed at a makeshift federal shelter at Freeman Coliseum in San Antonio. Late last month, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services reached a 60-day lease with Bexar County to house unaccompanied minors there as it became overwhelmed by a surge in border crossings. ....

The Buena Vista Police Department reported the following for October, 2020:
Denver resident Stephanie Giles, 30, was issued a citation on charges of speeding 5-9 MPH over the posted limit in the area of West Main Street on Oct. 1.
Shippensburg, Pa. resident Yvonne Shoop, 56, was issued a citation on charges of speeding 20-24 MPH over the posted limit in the area of West Main Street on Oct. 1.
Nathrop resident Erin Pursche, 34, was issued a citation on charges of speeding 5-9 MPH over the posted limit in the area of Rodeo Road on Oct. 2.
Nathrop resident Renee Brabant, 69, was issued a citation on charges of speeding 5-9 MPH over the posted limit in the area of Gregg Drive on Oct. 2. ....
