ENdumeni Local Municipality: As directed by the Premier Sihle Zikalala, I have joined other members of the executive council as part of Operation Sukuma Sakhe Cabinet Day in UMzinyathi District Municipality. I am currently visiting different wards in eNdumeni Local Municipality to monitor the delivery of socio-economic infrastructure. We have taken time to analyse the achievements and weaknesses in our service delivery programmes. According to the speakers, in resolving the injustices of our past, the Preamble mistakenly looks to healing rather than redistributive justice.
I understand our collective fatigue with healing as we have unfortunately come to associate it with a docile people and define it as one-sided forgiveness by black people, with no true atonement and recompense by white people for their crimes. Seen in the shadow of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) then yes, healing should today be greeted with suspicion. However, the Preamble was drafted and adopted before the conclusion of the TRC, which was expected to be reparative. If we were writing the Preamble today knowing what we now know, I would understand their scorn for the words chosen. ....

City of Cape Town granted interdict against further unlawful occupation of District Six
“The rights of the lawful District Six Claimants must be protected” says judge
The City of Cape Town has been granted an interdict against any further unlawful occupations on District Six land.
The Western Cape High Court said this was to prevent District Six claimants from being dispossessed for a second time.
In Hanover Street 28 tents and one wooden structure were unlawfully erected.
Judge Judy Cloete said the City had no obligation to engage meaningfully with those who use land occupations to secure tactical advantages.
The City of Cape Town has secured a final interdict preventing any further unlawful occupation of parts of District Six. ....
