LOUISVILLE, Ky. The violence plaguing Louisville streets was the focus of special forum on KET Monday night.
Mayor Greg Fischer, Metro Police Deputy Chief Jacquelyn Gwinn-Villaroel and former US Attorney Russell Coleman were among the panel.
The discussion covered the rise in both fatal and non-fatal shootings as well as possible solutions.

A study meant to gauge the efficacy of York City s anti-crime Group Violence Initiative could be delayed a year over fears the COVID-19 pandemic might have skewed the data.
Conducted by York College, the review was slated to be released this year, which already has seen a record number of shootings in the first quarter.
The study was made possible in 2019 through a three-year, $360,000 federal justice assistance grant meant to support the city s GVI program.
The York County District Attorney s Office applied for the grant on behalf of a partnership that includes the DA s office, the York City Police Department and York College. ....

York City Police: Six arrested on gun charges

York City Police have arrested six people on gun-related charges in recent weeks, the department announced in a news release.
The York City Police Department has been working diligently over the last few weeks to remove firearms that are unlawfully possessed from the streets of York City, according to the release.
Most of the arrests happened during traffic stops.
Kaewan Mishawn Matthews, 26, faces a felony charge of carrying a firearm without a license during a traffic violation, police said.
Matthews was pulled over about 11:30 p.m. Feb. 13 in the area of Boundary Avenue and Queen Street, according to the release. ....
