Benjamin Heath Cooper charged with conspiracy to commit market manipulation
Benjamin Heath Cooper of Bexley NSW appeared on Friday 12 March 2021 in the Perth Magistrates’ Court charged with conspiracy with others to manipulate the market for the shares of Quantum Resources Limited.
ASIC alleges that, on 16 November 2015, Mr Cooper conspired with Avrohom Kimelman and Don Evans to manipulate Quantum’s share price, in contravention of sections 1041A and 1311(1) of the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth) and section 11.5(1) of the Criminal Code (Cth) (20-223MR).
Quantum is now known as Nova Minerals Limited.
At the time of the alleged offence, market manipulation carried a maximum penalty of ten years’ imprisonment. In March 2019, the maximum penalty for this offence was increased to 15 years imprisonment. ....

Standards bodies to coordinate contributions to quantum information technology

Experts in quantum information technology and standardization are set to convene next week to discuss modes of cooperation capable of ensuring harmonized standards development.
The symposium will share insight into three key dimensions of quantum technologies: quantum communication, quantum computation, and quantum measurement. Presentations will be followed by a panel discussion among representatives of standards bodies including ITU, ISO, IEC, NIST, ETSI, and CEN-CENELEC.
The discussion aims to establish panelists’ opinion on the appropriate shape of ‘standardization roadmap’ for quantum information technologies.
A variety of standards bodies are developing guidance on the expected evolution of quantum information technologies and associated terminology, testing and evaluation methodologies, interoperability requirements, and quantum-safe security measures. ....

TOTEM and DØ collaborations announce odderon discovery

The TOTEM collaboration at the LHC, together with the DØ collaboration at the Tevatron collider at Fermilab, have announced the discovery of the odderon – an elusive state of three fundamental particles called gluons that was predicted almost 50 years ago. The result was presented on Friday 5 March during a meeting at CERN, and follows the joint submission in December 2020 of a CERN/Fermilab preprint by TOTEM and DØ reporting the observation.
“This result probes the deepest features of the theory of quantum chromodynamics, notably that gluons interact between themselves and that an odd number of gluons are able to be “colourless”, thus shielding the strong interaction,” says TOTEM spokesperson Simone Giani of CERN. “A notable feature of this work is t ....
