Open defecation: Muslim women advocate stringent punishment for violators

Muslim women under the auspices of the Federation of Muslim Women’s Association in Nigeria (FOMWAN), Oyo State branch, have canvased for stringent punishment for those who involved in open defecation.
They noted this is necessary in order to reduce the cases of open defecation that is still rampant in some rural and urban communities.
The association made this disclosure on Monday while addressing journalists during a press conference heralding the association’s 2021 week in Ibadan with the theme “My Community, My Pride: Promoting General Well-being and Stopping Open Defecation.
FOMWAN Amirah, Dr Bushra Oloso, who spoke on behalf of her colleagues, noted that open defecation is still common in some communities. ....

The Board of Wesley Girls’ High School must be reconstituted to ensure religious balance by adding some Muslims as members, the Coalition of Muslim Organisations, Ghana (COMOG) has suggested amidst the raging controversy over the school’s decision not to allow a Muslim student to fast during the Ramadan period.

The Carter Center and partners – the Federation of Muslim Women’s Association in Nigeria (FOMWAN), the Nasrul Lahi-L-Fatih Society (NASFAT) and the Women’s Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (WOWICAN) – are seeking a Nigeria-based consultant (or consultancy team or firm), to conduct a program scoping analysis with a strong gender focus.
