NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A $1 million investment from the Entergy Settlement Fund will purchase and staff 70 new crime cameras across the City of New Orleans. A majority of those new cameras will be placed in New Orleans East, where an increase in violent crimes has led some families to live in fear.
“This is a big step. This is a major step because now the criminals know somebody’s watching,” said concerned New Orleans East resident John Alfred. “Maybe that can slow them [criminals] down. At least it’s some form of prevention.” ....

The New Orleans Police Department is asking residents to be aware of their surroundings at gas pumps in the city. NOPD said in the past 15 hours, there have been three incidents reported; two armed robberies and one aggravated assault with a firearm. Police say the incidents were reported in the Seventh District. The incidents happened in the 5200 block of Crowder Boulevard, 6000 Block of Bullard, and the intersection near Morrison and Lamb Roads. NOPD said the suspects have been reported to be carrying firearms wearing all black clothing. Police ask residents not to leave keys in their cars while at the gas station or leave their cars unattended. Anyone with information on the incidents is asked to cal ....
