Let’s look at a few things that have worked against our dairy farmers.
Several years ago the fluid milk handlers (Class I) had a resolution passed that these handlers would pay 20 cents a cwt. to have fluid milk advertised.
This was a very admirable decision. The problem, however, was when a Market Administrator announced the Class I price, it contained a special 20 cents advertising fee. It appeared that the dairy farmers were receiving the 20 cents in addition to the regular Class I price.
Not true. After much concern, the 20 cent addition was altered so it did not show up as direct money to the dairy farmers. In other words, the USDA allowed the Class I handlers to recover their cost in the marketplace. ....

The action taken by Congress two years ago, which ended up taking money from all dairy farmers, must be changed. However, if the problem was rectified, then each dairy farmer in all eleven Federal Milk Marketing Orders should examine how big or how little a piece of that pie that they will receive.
For instance, take Federal Order Number One. If the increase to the Class I differential was 60 cents per cwt., then the affected dairy farmers would see an 18 cent per cwt. increase, and if the correction went to 80 cents per cwt., the dairy farmer would see a 24 cent per cwt. increase. ....
