Henry Board of Education to hold budget hearing, adopt FY22 budget May 10

McDONOUGH — The Henry County Board of Education unanimously approved its fiscal year 2022 tentative budget last week.
Chief Financial Officer Shanika Clay reported the district is expecting to spend an estimated $414.5 million with revenues projected to be $406.9 million. The difference is about a $7.6 shortfall between money coming in and money spent.

Additionally, student enrollment is down resulting in a reduction of $3 million to the budget. Increases in the Teacher Retirement System rate, healthcare and training and experience result in an additional cost of $3.5 million. ....
