Court jails two 'whistle blowers' in Port Harcourt

Justice I.M. Sani of the Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State has convicted and sentenced two false whistle blowers: Dominic Okem and Chukwunonso Igweonu, to two months imprisonment each for conspiracy and giving misleading and false information.
They were convicted on March 4, 2021 after pleading guilty to two-count charges bordering on giving false information, following their arraignment by the Port Harcourt Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
One of the charges read: “That you Dominic Okem and Chukwunonso Igweonu on or about the 22nd Day of January, 2021 within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court did conspire between yourselves to give false information to officers of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to wilt: huge fund were found at Enu/Akwu Street, Federal Housing Estate, in Calabar Cross Rivers State, which information turned out to be false, untrue/misleading and ....

Court jails two whistleblowers for giving false, misleading information

The Federal High Court in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has convicted two fake whistleblowers, Dominic Okem and Chukwunonso Igweonu.
A statement by the spokesperson for the
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Wilson Uwujaren, said on Monday that the trial judge, I.M. Sani, convicted and sentenced each of the two men to two months’ imprisonment with an option of N100,000 fine on March 4.
According to the statement, the judge passed the judgment after the two of them pleaded guilty to the offences of conspiracy and giving misleading and false information to EFCC operatives. ....

Barely a week after one Chinyere Rejoice Raymond was arrested by the police in her residence at the Federal Housing Estate, Onitsha, Anambra state, for alleged abduction, torture and killing of children, school children have embarked on s demonstration demanding thorough investigations into the activities of the suspect.
The children, wearing different school uniforms, armed with placards and chanted some slogans such as “we want justice, we want justice”.
Jointly led by Owners of Private Schools Association of Nigeria, OPSAN and Human Rights Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Onitsha branch, the children arrived Awka from Onitsha and headed straight to the Police Headquarters at Amawbia where they displayed their placards. ....

Three children rescued from suspected ritualists at Anambra

Three children battered beyond recognition were rescued from suspected ritualists at Nkwelle, in Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State by the State’s Police Command.
According to the police spokesperson in the state, Haruna Mohammed, the suspects identified as Rejoice Raymond, 39, and Chidi Felicia Nwafor, 80, were arrested by police operatives attached to 3-3 Police Station, Nkwelle.
Following intelligence report, on Friday, Feb 19, police stormed their address at NO.13 Akunwanta Mbamalu Street, Federal Housing Estate, 3-3 Nkwelle Ezunaka, Anambra state, where they found three children locked up in a room filled with fetish items.
The children, two boys and a girl, were badly bruised and were looking malnourished. They had broken bones and were left lying in the pool of their blood. ....
