(Eric Stone/KRBD) Two Ketchikan residents died in an early-morning house fire Wednesday. Ketchikan Fire Marshal Gretchen O’Sullivan announced the tragic news in a statement Wednesday afternoon. The fire marshal says a third resident of the Denali Avenue home escaped the blaze and is staying with family. Fire crews got the call just before 5 a.m. Wednesday. “We responded this morning to a structure fire. When the fire crews got here, the house was well involved,” said Ketchikan Fire Department Fire Chief Scott Brainard. ....
KETCHIKAN (KDN) â A 23-year-old woman was medevaced to Anchorage recently because of injuries sustained in an incident that occurred late Christmas Eve when a pickup truck went off of Stedman Street near U.S. Coast Guard Base Ketchikan. At about 11:06 p.m., Thursday, Ketchikan Police Department officers responded to a single-vehicle accident in the 1300 block of Stedman Street between the Coast Guard base and Doyonâs Landing, according to KPD information. âInitial police observations and investigationâ indicated the truck had been traveling south on Stedman Streeta at a high speed when the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck the southbound guardrail, according to the KPD statement. First COVID-19 Vaccines Being Administered in Ketchikan
Wednesday AM (SitNews) Ketchikan, Alaska - PeaceHealth Ketchikan Medical Center began administering doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine to frontline employees and medical staff Tuesday. Family medicine physician Charlie Jose, MD, and emergency room nurse Amanda Schlecht, RN, were the first two to receive the vaccine. Dr. Jose and Amanda Schlecht have been on the frontlines of patient care throughout the pandemic. Both were eager to receive the vaccine and look forward to the greater community getting immunized when supplies increase. PeaceHealth will continue to vaccinate frontline staff over the coming weeks and will continue to work with the Emergency Operations Center and local public health to support community distribution of vaccine once it becomes broadly available. ....
