LIMA Tax levy renewal proposals will appear on the May 4 ballot for the Allen County Children Services and the Monroe Township Fire Department. Renewals result in no additional tax burden on residents and simply continue a tax rate established when the levy was first presented to voters.

The Allen County Children Services agency is asking voters countywide for their continued support at the ballot box on May 4 by approving a .5-mill, 5-year levy renewal. The proceeds from the levy, which amount to more than $900,000 annually, are used for the care and placement of children throughout the county. ....

A Tuesday traffic accident damaged the beam and bridge deck on the Slabtown Road overpass over U.S. 30 westbound, forcing the temporary closure of both roads.

LIMA U.S. 30 westbound between Interstate 75/state Route 696 and state Route 65 and the Slabtown Road overpass at U.S. 30 in Allen County will be closed indefinitely following a single-vehicle traffic accident there Tuesday.
According to the Lima post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at approximately 4:15 p.m. when a boom truck driven by Jason Randol, 34, of Green Springs, struck the overpass. The boom of the truck was not fully lowered at the time of the crash, which caused severe structural damage to the overpass. ....
