The Olympic Break continues. With the majority of the biggest series being off last weekend, it almost feels like the offseason in many ways. Driver behavior is not really dissimilar. Just look at anything Kyle Busch has posted in the last week once he got over the shenanigans at Loudon.
That said, not everyone spent last weekend at home. Motocross teams raced at Washougal Motocross Park in Southern Washington. Formula E was at the ExCel Center in London, where Sunday’s race saw some outright shenanigans from Audi Sport ABT Speedline. Not as ridiculous as last year’s impostor issue, but still pretty crazy. There was also plenty of dirt track racing and short track racing in general. ....

The ARCA Menards Series took on Iowa Speedway Saturday night (July 24) and Ty Gibbs won the Shore Lunch 150.
Gibbs led the majority of laps from the pole with his grandfather Joe Gibbs in attendance.
It was the second consecutive win at Iowa for the No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing driver and the first time someone won more than one ARCA race there.
“I feel like you’re almost a painter here, you’re just working the brush here on a canvas, an open canvas,” Ty Gibbs told the MAVTV broadcast after the race. “There’s so much room to work with. It’s a Phoenix (Raceway), it’s an Atlanta Motor Speedway, there’s so many places to go the top, the bottom, you get everywhere. And all the little bumps, so much characteristics to this place. Really well done racetrack. I can’t thank Toyota enough and TRD for everything they do for my race team and for me, they help me out so much.” ....

Can history be made in the 2021 Shore Lunch 150 at Iowa Speedway, the first combination race for the ARCA Menards Series and ARCA Menards Series East?
There has never been either a two-time or back-to-back winner in ARCA history at the short track. Ty Gibbs enters the 150-lap race as the defending race winner and is the only competitor with a victory at this 0.875-mile oval in Newton.
Gibbs dominated this race last year, leading 140 of the 150 laps en route to winning by 1.41 seconds. He enters the Shore Lunch 150 second in points, trailing Corey Heim by five as this season is halfway complete. In addition to leading the most laps at Iowa last year, Gibbs has led the most laps this year by a landslide, more than four times any other driver. He seems to be the prohibitive favorite. ....

Sammy Smith cruises to first ARCA East win at 5 Flags

PENSACOLA, Fla. - Based on the way he barely lost the ARCA Menards Series East season-opener to fellow rookie Max Gutiérrez a few weeks ago, Sammy Smith’s eventual first win on the platform felt inevitable.
It became a reality Saturday night at 5 Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida, where the 16-year-old from Johnston, Iowa, won the Pensacola 200 in convincing fashion.
Smith’s first victory came in just his second series start.
Smith, who earlier Saturday earned the General Tire Pole Award when he put the No. 18 Engine Ice Toyota on the top of the speed chart toward the end of an open qualifying session, finished ahead of second-place Mason Diaz by more than two seconds on the half-mile paved oval. ....

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. – Stephen Nasse won the big race, but Derek Griffith will again wear the crown.
Nasse led every lap of the annual Orange Blossom 100 that closed out the week for the Super Late Model division, allowing him to complete a sweep of the 100-lap features for the Super Late Model and Pro Late Model divisions at Florida’s New Smyrna Speedway on consecutive days. ....
