This week s edition of Rewind recalls a memorable horse from the mid 1970 s named Jambo Dancer. Robert Smith covers a portion of this talented performer s racing career thanks in large part to the input of his longtime trainer. A few old photos are a part of the story of this well remembered horse as well as a couple of trivia questions.
Trainer Kent Baker appears with Jambo Dancer in this 1976 photo. Both horse and trainer earned prestigious awards that season. Baker was the unanimous choice as non-driving trainer of the year on the OJC while his leading stable member was named Harness Horse of the Year on the Ontario Jockey Club Circuit. In this week s edition of Rewind Robert Smith recalls a very important date in the history of Canadian harness racing. It was 60 years ago that nighttime racing finally came to the Province of Ontario. On the evening of May 17, 1961 with a post time of 8:00 p.m., it all happened at Western Fair Raceway in London, Ontario. A few recollections of the times and some old photographs help to recall this very special moment in our sport s history.

Commission gets updates on community grants
Monday’s Marion County Commissioner’s meeting focused on funding and administrative tasks for the region, including varying financial information for workers of the county and different programs that will continue throughout the year.
COVID-19 positivity rates have dropped again for Marion County, now at 7% with more vaccine points of dispersal to continue distribution out of the Marion County Fairgrounds or at Tabor College, County Clerk Tina Spencer said.
County commissioners discussed the 2020 Community Development Block Grant to different businesses within Marion County in efforts to aid small and private businesses during tumultuous financial environments. Marion and Hillsboro have reached the limit this grant provides, but the rest of the county is still eligible for aid. ....
