By Letters to The Argus
The cycle lane in Old Shoreham Road I note that in Friday s Argus I have been accused of lying by a member of the Brighton and Hove City Council Green members. It was all about the undemocratic decision keep the Old Shoreham Road cycle lanes which has now been overturned democratically by a proper all member vote. All I had said was that they had kept them in place by undemocratic means, which was actually true. I also note that this now democratically agreed decision is going to be referred to another council committee for so called verification. What?
GREEN councillors led a backlash against the decision to remove a controversial cycle route. They became involved in angry spats on Twitter after Labour and Conservatives councillors joined forces on Wednesday night to scrap the Old Shoreham Road bike lanes. After the decision, Brighton and Hove Green councillors tweeted: And so it s done. Brighton and Hove Labour and Conservatives vote to remove the Old Shoreham Road cycle lane (after an officer report). If you want action on the climate crisis, don t vote for these two. Shame on them all, added Green Jamie Lloyd, posting a picture of Labour and Conservative councillors before later accusing retired councillor Ken Norman of lying.
Expert advice was needed over Brighton s green wall By Letters to The Argus Something you want to say? Send us your views on the week s news
Council now very sorry for cutting down part of the green wall on Brighton seafront I HAVE read with interest about the various views on the serious and unnecessary cutting back of one section the green wall at Dukes Mound and I am astonished by the blame game going on from the Green administration at Brighton and Hove City Council. If they are blindly going ahead with cycle lanes in many areas of the city that may affect various historic plantations they should, of course, seek advice not only from council officers, so-called expert Green groups, but also experts in the management of all historical plantations in our once wonderful city.
