Recently the TimesDaily reported on action taken by the Florence City Council, at their April 20 meeting, to grant a contract to Skipper Consulting to better synchronized the traffic lights on Florence Blvd between  the intersection of Dr. Hicks and Tennessee Streets to Middle Road.  The Cost for the synchronizing  is $40,415.  Shipper Consulting is located in Birmingham and has an excellent reputation.   Due to the distance between the traffic lights at the intersection and the traffic light at Cox Creek, bc another question is:  Is the study necessary for this stretch of road due to distance between lights?  Traffic lights can be helpful to control speed of vehicles.  From the traffic light at Cox Creek to the traffic light at Middle Road there are several lights on Florence Blvd.  Perhaps a study by the  city’s Street Department would be helpful.
