HUNTINGTON â Students from Marshall Universityâs public radio station, WMUL-FM, received awards from the 19th annual Broadcast Education Association Festival of Media Arts Student Audio Competition, as well as the 81st annual Intercollegiate Broadcasting System Conferenceâs 12th annual awards, according to a news release.
In the Broadcast Education Association competition, the students earned one first-place award, one second-place award and one third-place award. The 2021 Festival of Media Arts winners were selected from a pool of over 1,350 entries, representing more than 300 colleges and universities.
âWinning never comes easy, but for Marshall University, the student broadcasters of WMUL-FM consistently earn honors in direct competition with nationally recognized colleges and universities,â said Chuck G. HUNTINGTON, W.Va. Senior Day turned out to be special for Jamil Roberts and Kyle Winquist as No. 9 Marshall scored twice in the second half to blank No. 12 Charlotte, 2-0, Sunday at Hoops Family Field. The win gives Marshall the regular-season title in Conference USA and allows the Herd to claim the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
The Thundering Herd is 9-2-2, 6-0-1 in C-USA. Charlotte (6-3-1, 6-1-0) suffered its first league setback. Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, there is no postseason league tournament.

HUNTINGTON, W. Va. – Andrew Taylor matched his season high with 20 points and Marshall held off a late North Texas charge to escape with a 73-72 Conference USA win Saturday afternoon in front of 1,228 fans at Cam Henderson Center.
Taevion Kinsey had 18 points and seven rebounds for the Thundering Herd (13-6, 7-5 C-USA).
Javion Hamlet had 28 points and made a 3-pointer with 40 seconds left to pull North Texas within one. The Mean Green, which had trailed by 14 points with 9:30 left, did get a shot to win it. However, Hamlet’s floater just before the buzzer didn’t go and the Herd’s Jannson Williams got the rebound as time
