Library programs offered in person, at home, and over the phone Moberly Monitor-Index Little Dixie Regional Libraries is excited to invite families with young children back into the libraries for storytime. These programs promote a vast vocabulary, early literacy, love of learning, socialization skills, and more with stories and songs that change weekly. Huntsville storytimes are Wednesdays at 11:15 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Moberly has storytimes each Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Paris and Madison have storytimes every Wednesday at 10 a.m. Have you seen the newest activity packets for children at your local library branch? This month the packages have a theme of gardens. Families can create pinwheel flowers, paper cactus and grow grass caterpillars. ....
Moberly Chamber celebrates award winners during May 1 banquet Submitted by Michelle Greenwell of Moberly Area Chamber of Commerce After a one-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic the Moberly Area Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet was held May 1 at the 4th Street Theatre. The fundraising and social event brought an entire new atmosphere was created intended to celebrate members and the ability to gather again after a long year of business struggles. Each year the Chamber honors its members for their achievements and this banquet was no different. Moberly Area Chamber of Commerce President Heather Martin distributed the Chamber awards, and said. “it is always an honor for the Chamber to be able to recognize achievements. After a year of restrictions with little joy to be found it made these awards and recognitions even more special to give.” ....
Moberly Monitor-Index With wind chill temperatures reaching double-digits below zero degrees in Moberly the past several days and the weather forecast shows its repeat through at least the end of this week, the city council at its Tuesday business meeting voted 3-2 against an idea for the Municipal Auditorium basement be used as a temporary warming center for the public. During an open discussion session, councilman Austin Kyser brought up the subject saying there are some city governments in the state that is using some of its facilities to serve as warming centers under certain weather conditions. He added that those cities worked with community civic service organizations in scheduling volunteers to help provide these services, and believes Moberly is in need of an overnight warming center location. ....
MOBERLY - Roads got noticeably slicker while driving north on Highway 63 toward Moberly Tuesday morning. Crews were out plowing and salting roads for most of the day and were helped by rising temperatures in the afternoon. Moberly resident and Circulation Clerk at Little Dixie Regional Library in Moberly Robin Fara said she was surprised by how quickly the snow began. It was so weird, there was no snow for so long, Fara said. When the snow did arrive, it impacted drivers, tow trucks lined the highway most of the morning, transporting cars that had spun off the road. Another Moberly resident, Josef McCloud, was at Walker s Auto Repair getting his truck ready for a long drive. ....
