International Women s Day is celebrated around the world. It is a day of union, commitment and progression that should be encouraged and pursued, as gender equality is both a strategic and important aspect for ORPEA (Paris:ORP).

60 year union celebrated
Barbara and Brian Hines, and on their wedding day in 1961.
Ōrewa couple Barbara and Brian Hines consider themselves very fortunate to have got their 60th wedding anniversary celebrations in just before the latest level 3 lockdown.
Barbara says on Sunday, February 14 around 100 people came to a party at their church, St John the Evangelist in Centreway Road, after a special blessing at Mass.
“It was a beautiful day,” she says.
The couple met at Auckland Hospital, where Brian was an oncology radiographer and Barbara worked as a medical secretary. Barbara was just 19 and Brian 27 when they married at St Michael’s church in Remuera, Auckland on February 11, 1961. ....

He also cut a 50-pound cake and invited a large number of people for a delicious meal.
