LOWER MERIONÂ â Most people know the basic story of how the Main Line got its name. The quickest version is that it comes from the old Main Line of the Pennsylvania Railroad, the rail line that now takes SEPTA commuters on a parallel course with Lancaster Avenue.
But, the term main line can apply to any primary route of a railroad.
So what might not be as well-known is there was once another main line that ran through Lower Merion, which,180 years after the first trains ran on this second line, it is still in use.

PECO To Close Lanes Starting Monday On State Routes In 3 Counties

TREDYFFRIN TOWNSHIP, PA West Chester and Pottstown pikes will see lane closures for PECO work starting on Presidents Day and into March, and there will be other lane closures in Montgomery and Delaware counties also.
PECO Energy is planning weekday lane closures from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. next week on several state highways in Chester, Delaware and Montgomery counties for utility construction, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced Friday.

MAIN LINE, PA A Philadelphia woman has been arrested and charged in connection with the overdose death of a Main Line man in summer 2020.
Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele and Lower Merion Township Police Superintendent Michael J. McGrath Wednesday announced the arrest of Jessica Lopez, 27, of Philadelphia.
Lopze has been charged with drug delivery resulting in death, possession with intent to deliver, person not to possess a firearm, criminal use of a communications facility, recklessly endangering another person, and related charges in connection with the death of Matthew Warren, 33, of Narberth. ....
