The hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day until further notice. To find the closest location, check SAWS.org/freeze.

The city of San Antonio, Bexar County and the San Antonio Food Bank also opened 16 more water distribution sites. The sites will operate on Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., or until supplies last.
A statement from the city explained the sites would be open until March 6, and people would be able to take one case of bottled water per household per day. More information was available here. ....

TPR reader Neidy Flores said they ve been using several clay pot and candle heaters to stay warm. A few years ago we actually used this inside our greenhouse and saved our plants. So far it is also saving us through this winter story, Flores said.
While power was restored for 200,000 San Antonians on Thursday, there are still about 7,000 households in the dark because of downed lines and blown fuses. There are also many neighborhoods without access to water.
Faced with those realities, Texans are forced to prepare for the home stretch of a disastrous week. Many Texas Public Radio listeners shared how they re cooking, drinking water and staying warm throughout the outages. ....

Several San Antonio-area warming centers have opened for people without power in freezing temperatures.
A map of the centers, maintained by the Texas Division of Emergency Management, shows only one San Antonio location: the Henry B. González Convention Center, which provided shelter and San Antonio Food Bank meals to 220 people overnight.
However, there are other places to seek shelter and warmth Thursday with temperatures expected to remain near freezing.
Officials are urging the community to stay home and off the roads. The return of winter precipitation Thursday morning made roadways dangerous and unpredictable, according to the Texas Department of Transportation. ....
