The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Bangladesh is holding a K-Pop competition to select talented Bangladesh performers who will be qualified to participate in the 2021 Changwon K-pop World Festival, scheduled in October in Korea.
As K-pop becomes a worldwide cultural phenomenon, especially among the young generation, Korea has been organizing regular World K-pop Festivals to promote K-pop worldwide and to provide opportunities for K-pop lovers to share their talents with world audience, said the Korean Embassy on Wednesday.
Accordingly, the Korean Embassy in Bangladesh has held annual K-Pop Festivals in Bangladesh since 2015. ....

Fifteen years ago, coal was entering a new golden age. China began commissioning dozens of new coal-fired power plants every year, and India, along with other developing countries, followed in its footsteps to meet growing electricity demand.
Coal plants in developed countries like the US and Germany have been major contributors to climate change, to be sure. But the more recent projects financed by East Asian countries pose a unique threat: Their conventional lifespan means they would run past the 2050 deadline by which the use of coal must be phased out to limit the global temperature rise to 1 ....
