Central Coast locals scramble to find new health care providers amid failed contract negotiations

Insurance provider Anthem Blue Cross dropped Dignity Health hospitals and medical groups after the groups failed to reach an agreement in their contract negotiations, leaving thousands of people racing to find services.
The contract between the insurance entity and medical care provider expired July 15, so members of certain Anthem health insurance plans are no longer covered at Dignity Health medical facilities.
Anthem Blue Cross did not return requests for comment by air time but the insurance provider told the San Luis Obispo Tribune that members who hold Commercial PPO, EPO, HMO and POS benefit plans as well as some Medicaid and Medicare Advantage plans are all impacted. ....

Public Health Reports 53 New COVID-19 Cases Tuesday; CDC Recommends Masking Indoors in Public

Santa Barbara County Public Health officials reported 53 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, driving the total number of active cases (people still considered to be infectious) up to 342.
There have been 432 new cases reported over the last seven days, averaging close to 62 new cases per day. This is a roughly 70% increase from the week prior when the county was averaging just over 36 new cases per day, according to data tracking done by Noozhawk.
Public health officials said the local case rate (cases per 100,000 residents) in Santa Barbara County has skyrocketed 400% in the past month. ....

Santa Barbara County Reports 175 New COVID-19 Cases Over Last 3 Days

The first or second dose will be offered at the clinic, Cottage Health said.
For first shots administered after July 8, the second dose can be completed by another provider following the recommended three-week interval between doses, according to Cottage Health.
People can find a COVID-19 vaccine provider on the county website, publichealthsbc.org/vaccine, or at myturn.ca.gov. Some facilities offer walk-ups as well as appointments.
