Daily Trojan | Annenberg implements new AAPI journalism course

In the days and weeks following the Atlanta shooting that killed eight women, six of whom were Asian American, May Lee noticed a stark difference in the media coverage of the event. The coverage, Lee said, by mainstream, predominantly white media outlets, versus that of Korean and other Asian outlets was “very different.”
Lee, a journalist and adjunct professor at the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, said that mainstream outlets, unaware of cultural sensitivities and what Asian Americans were going through “skew[ed] the narrative,” dehumanized the victims through hypersexualization and “show[ed] more sympathy toward the shooter than the actual victims,” as in the case with the sheriff spokesman. A Grimsby man admitted making indecent images of children when police investigated his vile computer activity.
Daren Cody, 48, of Spratton Court, was arrested after The National Crime Agency alerted Humberside Police to his sickening lust for child pornography.
At Grimsby Crown Court he received a two year community order and was told he had to attend 30 rehabilitation activity days.
Cody was found with two still images classed at category B images and 61 of lesser category images. ....

A woman was left bloodied and unconscious after having her head smashed against a brick wall in a shocking, random street attack.
The woman was walking near to Barton Train Station on November 21 last year when she was set upon by Natalie Holt, 28, of Kingston View in Barton-upon-Humber.
When she left her home at around 9pm, the woman noticed a black car nearby. When she reached the train station she noticed the same black car again.
Prosecuting, Stephen Robinson, told Grimsby Crown Court the car was driven by a man and had a passenger in the front and Holt in the back. ....
