Primary schools in Cheshire East see 98 per cent attendance during first week back

PRIMARY schools across Cheshire East have seen a 98 per cent attendance rate as pupils complete their first week back in the classroom.
Since pupils returned to school on March 8, there has been a high attendance rate across the borough.
For all schools in Cheshire East, this was 80 per cent - above the 68 per cent average across England.
Full attendance data from secondary schools will be phased over the first week to allow for the rapid testing of pupils.
Cllr Kathryn Flavell, Cheshire East Council cabinet member for children and families, said: Getting children and young people back to school has been a top priority nationally and for this council. ....

Cheshire East pupils reassured schools will be Covid safe


PUPILS will be welcomed back to schools and colleges today.
Cheshire East Council has been working with teachers to make sure everything will be in place to make classrooms and learning spaces Covid safe.
Around 56,000 pupils attend more than 170 schools and colleges across the borough and the council has been working continuously with school staff over the past couple of months, to make sure they are in the best position to reopen next week.
All schools have been supported with measures to reduce the risks of Covid-19. This includes enhanced cleaning and ventilation, and the wearing of face coverings in communal areas and classrooms for staff and year seven pupils and above, for a limited time until Easter. ....
