Arboriculture scholar Dr Mark Johnston completes history of professional arboriculture book +top 10 new gardening books

After four years of research and writing, his book, The Tree Experts: A History of Professional Arboriculture in Britain, is scheduled to be published.
Johnston said: This is the first book to tell the story of Britain’s professional tree experts, from the Romans to the present day. It also highlights the influences from continental Europe and North America that have helped to shape British arboriculture over the centuries. It’s a hardback of some 550 pages and is based on a substantial amount of original and meticulous research. It has around 100 colour and BW illustrations, including many rare and unique images. I’m very grateful to some 70 individuals from the world of arboriculture, landscape, garden history and other disciplines who contributed to the research and production of the book. ....
