Ontario reports 2,170 new COVID-19 cases, four more deaths
12 pm Ontario is reporting a daily increase of 2,170 new COVID-19 cases and four more deaths on May 17.
Today’s count is down slightly from the 2,199 cases confirmed on Sunday. The province detected 2,584 new cases on Saturday, 2,362 on Friday and 2,759. The seven-day average for new infections has dropped to 2,352. The average was 3,017 a week ago.

TORONTO Now that over half of Torontonians 18 and older have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, a new urgency lingers the second dose. Vaccine recipients across the country are recommended a second dose within four months of their first, in accordance with the National Advisory Committee on Immunization’s recommendations. But the affirmation of a date and location for a second appointment depends on where you received your first dose. The provincial booking system used for city-run immunization clinics prompts users to book both doses at the same time, a Toronto Public Health spokesperson told CTV News Toronto. They said those who received their first vaccine at a hospital immunization clinic or pharmacy and did not receive a second dose appointment, should contact the respective institution.
