Australia to invest $78.2m to upgrade Gallipoli Barracks

The Government of Australia is set to invest $78.2m (A$101.1m) to upgrade Gallipoli Barracks, a military base in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
The investment will be used to build vehicle workshops, hardstands and shelters to support the modernisation of the Australian Army and Royal Australian Air Force vehicle fleet.
The facilities will be delivered by Lendlease under the Land 121 Stage 5B programme. ....

Defence infrastructure investment delivers $100 million boost for Queensland economy

The Morrison Government is investing over $100 million into the construction of vehicle workshops, hardstands and shelters at Gallipoli Barracks in Brisbane to support the modernisation of the Australian Army and Royal Australian Airforce vehicle fleet.
Lendlease will deliver the facilities under Land 121 Stage 5B as a continuation of works delivered under Land 121 Stage 2A.
Minister for Defence, the Hon Peter Dutton said this is part of a larger $150 million national investment that will deliver supporting infrastructure for the sustainment and maintenance of the Australian Defence Force’s Land 121 vehicle fleet.
“This next generation of light, medium and heavy vehicles is capable of supporting combat operations, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations, and training to ensure the Australian Defence Force is prepared for both current and future operations,” Minister Dutton said. ....

A broad smile overwhelms the face of Dominique Yanai. He s just seen a photo of his great-grandfather Morizo for the first time, which has been unearthed by SBS News.
It s one of only two images of him known to exist.
“Wow. That’s amazing. I can t explain what I’m actually feeling right now, it’s a big emotion,” the 42-year-old says. “We’ve never seen that before. I can’t wait to share with all the family.  
Seventy-five years ago, Morizo was among about 1,000 Japanese civilian internees forcibly removed from detention centres in Australia at the end of the Second World War and sent to Japan, a country many had left decades before or had never even been to. ....

Beijing has fired another round of insults at Australia and claimed that speaking out on Chinese human rights abuses is the the new political correctness .
