Inspirational Gail overjoyed to win our Gloucestershire Care Hero award

AN inspirational support worker has won our Gloucestershire Care Hero 2020 award.
Gail Hadland, who works for Careful Care in Cirencester, received the most votes in our inaugural competition, narrowly beating Stephanie Burns and Angela Kavanagh as well as dozens of other nominees.
As well as the trophy, Gail will receive a 43” Mitchell & Brown TV from Gardiner Haskins and a hamper worth £50 from Pound Farm Shop.
Mother-of-three Gail was nominated for the award by her eldest daughter, Clare.
Reacting to being announced the winner, Gail, who turns 60 next week, said: “I am overwhelmed by all the kindness. There are far far more carers out there who deserve it. ....

FLURRIES of nominations for our Gloucestershire Care Heroes award continue to arrive at the Standard in recognition of carers’ dedication during the Covid crisis.
Gail Hadland, who lives in Cirencester, is the latest hero to be nominated. She was put forward by her daughter Clare Meredith.
“I am very proud to put forward my amazing mum,” said Clare.
“She had a mini stroke at the beginning of this year but she took some time to recover and now she is back out caring within our community.
“The thing that always warms my heart is when she tells me how attached she is to her clients. ....

Resthaven carers have been a tower of strength during Covid-19

The Stroud News and Journal is profiling care heroes to recognise their tireless efforts during the pandemic.
This week we spoke to Kerlane Jackman, 41, who moved from Brazil to Stroud to care for the elderly at Resthaven Nursing Home in Pitchcombe.
After working as a cleaner in another home, Mrs Jackman studied health and social care at Stroud College and became a care assistant.
“Kerlane with her incredible colleagues have shown great patience and dedication with our residents and supported families during the pandemic,” said Resthaven chief executive Martin Hughes.
Resthaven is owned by Lilian Faithful, a charity which provides care for around 300 vulnerable elderly residents in five homes in Gloucestershire. ....
