The Glenridge Road rail overpass in Glenville is struck with such frequency, we’re beginning to think that when a truck hits the bridge, an angel gets its wings.
It’s the only reasonable explanation left for why despite signs warning drivers about the approaching bridge and other obvious indications of a low bridge ahead, trucks keep hitting it, often tearing the tops off their cargo containers like the foil lid on your yogurt cup.
It happened again Tuesday afternoon, when yet another truck failed to squeeze under the 10-foot-11-inch gap between the road below and the Canadian Pacific Railroad tracks above. ....

Officials call for state corrective action after latest tractor-trailer bridge strike in Glenville | The Daily Gazette

GLENVILLE – After about 100 tractor-trailer strikes and turnarounds in the Canadian Pacific Railroad bridge’s existence on Glenridge Road, local officials are calling for the state and the rail company to take action in the wake of this week’s latest accident.
Town Supervisor Christopher Koetzle and the local legislative delegation said they want the state to close the underpass to truck traffic and raise the 10-foot, 11-inch bridge to a height that would be safer, as determined by traffic engineers.
All of the roads involved are owned by the state and county and would require state Department of Transportation  involvement to coordinate and execute a solution, officials said. ....
