A bill, the National Dermatology (Specialist) Hospital Bill, 2021, seeking for the establishment of an international hospital that would specifically focus on the treatment of leprosy, skin cancer and other skin related diseases passed second reading in the Senate, on Wednesday.
In his lead debate, Senator representing Adamawa Central and sponsor of the bill, Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed, recalled that as far back as 1929, an International Hospital was established for Garkida Agricultural Leper Colony by the Church of the Brethren Mission (USA).
