MORINELLO: Unmask Our Children

Assemblyman Angelo Morinello (R,C,I-Niagara Falls) joined his colleagues in the Assembly Minority Conference to introduce a bill that would prohibit a mask mandate by state agencies for children in educational settings like schools and camps. It would apply to all New Yorkers under 18 years old who are healthy and asymptomatic.
“The constantly-changing mask guidelines have created enormous confusion for our parents, kids and teachers,” said Morinello. “Our teachers have endured so much this school year to foster the best learning environment for our students.We should entrust our individual school districts to make the best decisions for their students. As the summer approaches, and temperatures and vaccination rates continue to rise while positivity rates and hospitalizations go down, it’s time we unmask our kids.” ....

New York restaurants encouraged to apply for aid


Leaders in the state’s restaurant industry are hopeful as thousands of New York eateries, diners and bars can pre-register this weekend to apply for up to $10 million in federal aid to assist with economic hardships due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Businesses can apply for up to $10 million through the American Rescue Plan’s $28 billion Restaurant Revitalization Fund. Pre-registration is currently available through the Small Business Association’s online portal. More than 50,000 people pre-registered within the first two hours of the site going live Friday.
Applications can start to be submitted at noon Monday.
