After the Forest Grove family was frightened, police didn t tell the victims their alleged intruder was a fellow cop.
Steven Teets, the off-duty Forest Grove police officer accused of criminal trespass against a Latino couple flying a Black Lives Matter flag last Halloween, was so intoxicated and belligerent when contacted by other officers that he was ready to fight his fellow cops, Pamplin Media Group has learned.
The new details, contained in a five-page Washington County Sheriff s Office memo, substantiate the account of Forest Grove resident Mirella Castaneda, which first received widespread media coverage in early November.
Shortly before 1 a.m. on Halloween, Castaneda poked her head outside to see who had set off the alarm on her family s pickup truck, at which point an unknown man charged at her in apparent rage, pounded on her front door and appeared eager to fight. She saw him bang on her Black Lives Matter flag as well. ....

MINNEAPOLIS In an effort to highlight his client’s impeccable character, the defense attorney representing Derek Chauvin praised the former police officer Thursday for exercising great restraint by not killing bystanders. “As the video evidence shows, there were several bystanders standing only a few feet away during the time of George Floyd’s arrest, and yet Mr. Chauvin didn’t attempt to shoot or strangle a single one,” said attorney Eric Nelson, who commended Chauvin for remaining calm and composed while responding to the call regarding a counterfeit bill by letting the half-dozen witnesses watching from the curb go physically unscathed. “Mr. Chauvin was under a staggering amount of stress at the time, and the fact that not everybody was gunned down in a bloodbath is just proof of his exceptional professionalism. Police surround, detain protesters, vandals in Pearl District
A planned direct action ends in 13 arrests with more arrests and charges possible.
Portland police wasted little time dealing with protesters and vandals who smashed windows in the Pearl District on Friday, March 12.
Authorities formed a perimeter around the protesters, detaining them for suspected criminal activity on Northwest Marshall Street between 13th and 14th avenues, Police said. About 100 protesters were inside the perimeter when it was formed around 9:30 p.m. Thirteen people were arrested.
The direct action event began around 8 p.m. in Jamison Square in Northwest Portland. After a while the group began to march in the streets. Police used a loudspeaker to tell them the march was not a permitted march. ....
