Police were called to the 400 block of Gilmer Street around 6:20 p.m. on Sunday, April 4 for the death. At the scene, officers found a man with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect is in custody, police say. The VCU Police Department says there is no ongoing threat to the VCU community at this time. ....

A suspect, Allen Carl Runchey, a 57-year-old San Mateo resident, is in custody. The suspect contacted San Mateo police at 11:38 a.m. Sunday to say he shot his neighbor in the chest, police said. Then police received two more calls reporting shots fired in the area of Fashion Island Boulevard and South Norfolk Street. When officers arrived, they found a 57-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest, police said. The officers rendered first aid and CPR on the man, who was then transported by paramedics to a local trauma center, where he underwent emergency surgery. The man succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, police said. ....
