In the pile of old sweaters and fabric, a particular pattern caught Melissa Bracken’s eye. It looked suspiciously like … those mittens. You know the mittens the ones that covered the chilly hands of Sen. Bernie Sanders during President Joe Biden’s inauguration and helped inspire the viral meme. “I happened to have this sweater here and thought,
Oh, my gosh. It looks like Bernie’s gloves,” says Bracken, the owner and creator behind The Happy Groundhog Studio stuffed animals.

She made a stuffed Bernie for her husband and started placing the animal (human?) around the house, à la the meme, and she wondered if anyone else would want one. They did. ....

Happy Groundhog Day! Yep today is Groundhog Day and this morning me and Rebecca actually called Puxatawny, Pennsylvania. We called a convenience store there and yep got the low down to see if PHIL saw his shadow. Yep he did! So, that means of course we have 6 more weeks of winter. Around here, that really doesn t mean much because, well, we don t have much of a winter anyways. So, if we get six more weeks of winter that might mean we actually might have a winter this year.

Today s the day we all turn our heads to the furry little friends who help us predict the weather. You ve probably heard of the famous groundhog - Punxsutawney Phil. He s the iconic groundhog that looks for his shadow every year on February 2nd in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania.
So what did Phil predict for 2021? Well, it s not good news on Phil s end. Phil popped out of his hole this morning and saw his shadow. And that means that we re going to get six more weeks of winter.
But I don t really trust Phil. We have two local groundhogs and they both predicted opposite of Phil. Jimmy the groundhog from Sun Prairie, Wisconsin did NOT see his shadow, which means an early spring. And Woodstock s groundhog Willie didn t see his shadow either. ....
