With the hosting rights for the 2032 Olympics and Paralympics secured for Brisbane and South East Queensland, Toowoomba Region Mayor Paul Antonio is inviting residents to experience the Tokyo Olympic Games action by joining community events at Toowoomba’s Walton Stores.
Mayor Antonio, who is the Deputy Chair of the Council of Mayors South East Queensland (COMSEQ, the group that sowed the seed for the 2032 Olympics bid), said the CBD venue would screen live events and run participation days for budding Olympians and sports fans.
“It was an incredible moment on Wednesday (July 21) when the IOC announced Brisbane and South East Queensland as the host region for the 2032 Olympics and Paralympics. Being in Brisbane for the announcement as part of the COMSEQ delegation reinforced the excitement that exists more than a decade away from the events,” Mayor Antonio said. ....
