Griffith Park Summit Re-Named To Honor Tom LaBonge
GRIFFITH PARK The Mount Hollywood summit located above the Griffith Observatory was recently re-named in remembrance of Los Angeles Councilmember Tom LaBonge who passed away on Thursday, January 7 at the age of 67.
Known as “Mr. Los Angeles” by his colleagues, LaBonge worked at Los Angeles private sector since 1947 and served on the city council representing the 4th district from 2001-2015, according to his obituary.
Several Los Angeles public officials spoke on his impact of more than 40 years of public service including Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti who said on social media “Our city lost a giant, a leader who brought so much energy, enthusiasm, decency, and passion to the task of building a stronger, safer, fairer city. LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The LAX pylons are drenched in Dodger blue and white this weekend as the city continues to  mourn the death of former Councilmember Tom LaBonge, whose enthusiasm for the city and seemingly endless knowledge of its history earned him the nickname “Mr. Los Angeles.
LaBonge died Thursday at age 67. He represented the council s Fourth District from 2001-15, overseeing an area that includes Koreatown, Mid- Wilshire, the Miracle Mile, Fairfax District and much of Hollywood, Silver Lake, Los Feliz and Griffith Park.
On Friday, airport officials announced plans for the tribute to LaBonge, as well as legendary Los Angeles Dodgers Manager Tommy Lasorda, who also died Thursday night.   ....

LOS ANGELES - Former colleagues shared fond memories Friday of longtime Los Angeles City Councilman Tom LaBonge, who died Thursday at age 67.
LaBonge known as Mr. Los Angeles for his knowledge of and love of the city represented the Fourth District from 2001-15. The district includes Koreatown, Mid-Wilshire, the Miracle Mile, Fairfax District and much of Hollywood, Silver Lake, Los Feliz and Griffith Park.
Mayor Eric Garcetti, who represented the neighboring 13th District, said on Twitter: We often said that while we shared a border, there was no dividing line between us, our work, and our districts. ....
