Bowling Green State University celebrates Peace Corps Week
When it comes to demonstrating a commitment to public service, one of Bowling Green State University s strongest partnerships is with the Peace Corps, which has been sending volunteers around the globe since its creation by President John F. Kennedy in 1961.
BGSU will celebrate “60 Years of Service” during Peace Corps Week, Feb. 28-March 6, highlighting the relationship between the two with a virtual reunion of volunteers.
Organized by Dr. Margaret Zoller Booth, professor in the School of Educational Foundations, Leadership and Policy, and Evan Snapp, a Paul D. Coverdell Peace Corps Fellow graduate assistant and a Master of Public Administration student, the highlight of BGSU’s celebration will be a virtual gathering at 6 p.m. March 3 of University alumni who have participated in the Peace Corps. Collaborative program offers Zoom activities for regional youth

MACOMB A Western Illinois University Recreation, Park and Tourism Administration professor and a department graduate student have helped create a virtual field trip program through the Regional Office of Education to give young people some fun activities during COVID-19.
Winter Wanderings was created through the McDonough County Youth Task Force, with help from RPTA Instructor Jullie Eggleston and RPTA graduate student Rok Locksley, of Takoma Park, MD. The task force is chaired by RPTA Assistant Professor Megan Owens.
The collaborative field trip project is designed to engage children from around the region in Zoom-based exploring. The programs are free and sessions are available for elementary, middle school and high school students. Programming runs through May and a wide variety of session options are available. ....

Elaine Perlman, Director of the Peace Corps Fellows Program and TC alumna, in a conversation about anonymous kidney donation. Exactly one year ago in New York City, Elaine donated her kidney to a stranger who lives in Georgia, initiating a kidney chain that resulted in four people around the country receiving kidneys. Nearly 100,000 Americans are on the kidney waitlist and many people do not know that they can live great lives with only one kidney.
The aim of the webinar is to raise awareness about the opportunity for altruistic kidney donation and will include a short informative talk followed by a question and answer session. ....
