Massachusetts community foundations get $5M in state COVID relief grants

The Baker administration Friday allocated an additional $5 million to charitable community foundations across the state to provide immediate relief from economic hardships for families and individuals due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Over the last year the state has allocated a total of $15 million through the Community Foundations Grant Program for COVID-19 Relief.
Katie Allan Zobel, president and CEO of the Community Foundations of Western Massachusetts, said the $423,035 allocated to her organization Friday brings the agency’s total to more than $1.2 million since the first of the year.
“This is the first time that community foundations have received money from the state like this,” Zobel said. “That speaks to the urgent nature of the need. We have the resources to get the money to people with the greatest need.” ....
