Carle Center For Philanthropy Raises More Than $36 million In VISION 2020 Campaign

Champaign, IL -(Effingham Radio)- Carle Center for Philanthropy is proud to announce the successful completion of VISION 2020, a vital $35 million campaign to improve healthcare for the nearly 1.5 million people living within the Carle service region. Launched Jan. 1, 2014 and ending Dec. 31, 2020, the campaign raised $36,953,414 for initiatives designed to transform healthcare through innovative medicine and compassionate care.
“We’re so grateful to the countless donors who continue to support the world-class healthcare provided at Carle,” Beth Katsinas, vice president of Carle Center for Philanthropy, said. “Their generosity helped us fuel research, expand opportunities, enable community outreach, enhance patient experiences, deliver extraordinary care, and further the education of our team members.” ....

Accusing anyone of racism is a sure way to elicit a defensive response. Suggest that institutional racism is rampant, and most white Americans will react with the same reflexive denial, insisting they neither practice nor condone it.
But institutional racism isn t an attitude, or a policy; it s an outcome. To diminish it and ultimately eradicate it, we first have to measure it.
So we re asking leaders in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties to undertake an extraordinary effort: Gather the data necessary to document, and quantify, the racial inequities that infect each county s criminal justice system, following the example of civic leaders in Washtenaw County.  ....

Dr. Laura Parajon Joins Department Of Health As Deputy Secretary

Experienced clinician, community health worker, will help lead COVID-19 vaccination effort
DOH Secretary-Designate Dr. Tracie Collins on Wednesday announced the appointment of Dr. Laura Chanchien Parajon as Deputy Cabinet Secretary for the Department of Health. Dr. Parajon is on leave as Executive Director for Community Health and Assistant Professor, Department of Family and Community Medicine, at the University of New Mexico.
“We are pleased to welcome Dr. Parajon to the team,” said Dr. Collins. “Her expertise, experience, and compassion will be an asset to the state – especially now.”
“My goal is always to work towards health for all people. For me, this means listening to communities and their priorities, building from their strengths and resources, and taking action together to serve everyone – especially the most vulnerable,” said Dr. Parajon. ....
