Many Cariboo groups among recipients of BC's Community Gaming Grants

Many not-for-profit groups in the Cariboo delivering social services to people and families are receiving a big boost.
The BC Government is contributing nearly $61 million to over 1,400 not-for-profits across the province through BC’s Community Gaming Grants. Some of the groups receiving money include those provide child care, support for people with liabilities, seniors’ activities, health education and more.
“Since the start of the pandemic, the not-for-profit sector has been a beacon for many British Columbians, guiding them through challenging times with programs that have made life better and helped keep communities resilient,”  Josie Osborne, Minister of Municipal Affairs. “We are stronger when we work together, and our government is committed to supporting these organizations and the people who rely on them – today, and as we move forward into recovery.” ....

Local conservation and public safety programs get funds
Non-profits are receiving more than $11 million from B.C.’s Community Gaming Grants to boost conservation and public safety programs that will benefit British Columbians around the province.
A total of 14 projects in the East Kootenay are getting $427,250 in this funding round.
Josie Osborne, Minister of Municipal Affairs stated, “This funding ensures community organizations can continue to provide programming to enhance public safety through emergency programs like search and rescue, and to steward and preserve our ecosystems for generations to come.”
The province is providing about $4.8 million to 138 environmental organizations in 2020-21. These programs will create opportunities for people to learn about, connect with and protect nature. ....
