Turkey condemns detention of activists in Crimea


(MENAFN - UkrinForm) The Turkish Foreign Ministry is concerned about February 17 detentions in Crimea and says Turkey will continue to support Crimean Tatars, according to a statement released by the ministry.
We are concerned about the raids and detentions that took place in Crimea yesterday (February 17th). We call for ending such practices against the Crimean Tatars, who are an integral part of the Crimean Peninsula, the statement said.
The Turkish Foreign Ministry also said the country s position on Russia s occupation of the peninsula remained unchanged.
Turkey doesn t recognize the illegal annexation of Crimea and will continue to stand by the Crimean Tatars, the statement reads. ....

JOHNS ISLAND, S.C. (WCSC) - Dozens of rental homes and town houses could be built off Maybank Highway on Johns Island.
On Wednesday, the city of Charleston’s planning commission approved a rezoning request to change properties marked as single-family residential to diverse residential which allows for multi-family housing to be built.
The new zoning would allow a maximum of 207 units to be built which is less than what the single-family residential zoning allowed. ....

Those involved in the search for a missing Invercargill man are extremely concerned about his wellbeing, the man in charge of co-ordinating it says.
Sergeant Ian Martin, of Invercargill, said 68-year-old Raymond Horn had been missing since Monday morning.
He is a resident of Walmsley House, a rest-home in Richmond, Invercargill.

As such, it was out of character, he said.
Horn had trouble communicating, due to a stroke, also had limited mobility and was unlikely to approach anyone.
Police were contacted about Horn s disappearance on Monday, about 1pm, and search and rescue volunteers were involved from about 5pm. ....
