SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCSC) - Dorchester County School District 2 parents have until the end of the day Thursday to enroll or withdraw their children for the districtâs virtual academy.
District officials say that paperwork must be completed by 5 p.m.

DD2 Virtual Academy Director Greg Harrison says nearly 1,400 students requested to withdraw from the virtual academy for the second semester as of Wednesday. Thatâs out of the approximately 8,000 students who were enrolled last semester. ....

A man was arrested Wednesday after police said he stabbed a woman multiple times at a South Carolina Waffle House.The Dorchester County Sheriff s Office arrested Marcus Tyrone Myles, 20, of Summerville, for attempted murder.Deputies said they first received a call around 4 a.m. about a stabbing at the Waffle House in the 900 Block of Orangeburg Road in Knightsville. Dorchester County EMS, with assistance from Summerville Police and Fire, were dispatched to the scene as well.When units arrived, deputies found a female victim suffering from multiple stab wounds and transported her to Trident Medical Center.DCSO Lt. Rick Carson said deputies also located the suspect nearby still holding knives in both hands.Myles was given multiple commands ....

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCSC) - Two Lowcountry school districts are making plans for in-person instruction in the coming weeks.
The Georgetown County School District posted on its Facebook page that all of its schools would return to a hybrid model on Jan. 25. Middle and high schools will remain in the hybrid model until further notice.
But, one week later, on Feb. 1, students in elementary and intermediate schools will switch to Hybrid Plus, meaning students will attend class in-person four days a week instead of the current two. ....

DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - Deputies are investigating after an 11-year-old boy said he was able to get away from a man who had grabbed him and pulled him over a fence at a home near Summerville.
Officials with the Dorchester County Sheriffâs Office began the investigation on Monday afternoon when a woman told deputies that someone tried to kidnap her son from her backyard at a home on Bob White Lane. ....
