Signed as Law: Tennessee Enacts “Constitutional Carry”
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (April 12, 2021) – Last week, Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee signed a “constitutional carry” bill into law making it legal to carry a concealed firearm without a license, and foster an environment hostile to federal gun control in Tennessee.
Sen. Jack Johnson (R-Brentwood), along with four fellow Republicans, introduced Senate Bill 765 (SB765) on Feb. 9. Rep. William Lamberth (R-Portland) sponsored a companion bill (HB786) in the House. The new law allows adults 21 and older who can legally possess a firearm in the state to carry a handgun concealed or openly without a state-issued license. Members of the military 18 to 20 can also carry without a permit under the new law. The current licensing program will remain in effect for those wishing to carry concealed in states with reciprocity with Tennessee. ....

Louisiana Bill Would Ban Enforcement of Federal Gun Control: Past, Present and Future
BATON ROUGE, La. (April 13, 2021) – A bill filed in the Louisiana House would prohibit state and local enforcement of federal gun control; past, present and future. Passage into law would represent a major step toward ending federal acts that infringe on the right to keep and bear arms within the state.
Rep. Larry Frieman (R-Abita Springs) filed House Bill 118 (HB118) on March 15. Titled the “Louisiana Firearm Protection Act,” the legislation would end state enforcement of any federal gun control that isn’t covered by state law.
The proposed law would prohibit the state, its agencies and its political subdivision from “adopting a rule, order, ordinance, or policy under which the entity explicitly or through consistent overt action enforces a federal statute, order, rule, or regulation enacted that purports to regulate a firearm, firearm accessory, or ammunition if the statut ....

The legislation would prohibit state and local enforcement of future federal gun control by banning the allocation of any state or local funds, and prohibiting the use of state property “for the implementation, regulation, or enforcement of any executive order, or directive issued by the President of the United States or an act of the United States Congress that becomes effective after January 1, 2021, that regulates the ownership, use, or possession of firearms, ammunition, or firearm accessories." It would also prohibit any appointed or elected official, officer, employee, or agent of the state, or any political subdivision of the state from enforcing the same. ....

AUSTIN, Texas (April 5, 2021) – Last week, a Texas House committee held a hearing on a bill that would take on future federal gun control. Passage into law would represent the first step toward ending enforcement of some federal acts that infringe on the right to keep and bear arms within the state.
A coalition of five Republicans introduced House Bill 2622 (HB2622) on March 17. HELENA, Mont. (April 1, 2021) – Today, the Montana Senate gave final approval to a bill that would ban enforcement of any new federal gun control, a major step toward bringing such federal acts to an end within the state.
Rep. Jedediah Hinkle (R-Belgrade) introduced House Bill 258 (HB258) on Jan. 27.
