IRONTON â An Ironton man rejected a plea deal earlier this week in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court that would have sentenced him to 10 years in prison. Santonio Wilson, 29, of the 1900 block of South 3rd Street, Ironton, has pleaded not guilty to tampering with evidence, corrupting another with drugs, three counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and three counts of disseminating matter harmful to juveniles. If convicted, he could be sentenced to 22-and-a-half years in prison. Judge Andy Ballard has set the case for trial Aug. 16. In an unrelated case, Christy Potter, 50, of the 2700 block of South 7th Street, Ironton, pleaded guilty to several felony cases and was sentenced to four years in prison.

IRONTON â Bond was set at $1 million Wednesday in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court for an Ironton man charged with the rape of a 5-year-old child in Ironton. Michael G. Willis, 58, of the 3600 block of South 3rd Street, Ironton, pleaded not guilty to the rape charge. Judge Andy Ballard set bond in the case and set a pretrial for July 14. In an unrelated case, Joshua M. Hay, 24, of Township Road 1503, Chesapeake, pleaded not guilty to failure to appear. He also faces community control sanctions. Bond was set at $150,000. In other cases: Bond was set at $150,000 for Edward S. Holsinger, 51, of Neil Street, Ironton. He pleaded not guilty to charges of aggravated possession of meth, tampering with evidence and possession of meth. He also faces community control sanctions from a prior felony case.
IRONTON â A Wheelersburg, Ohio, man rejected a plea deal last week in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court that would have sent him to prison for five to seven-and-a-half years. Tyron Markel, 45, of County Road 45, was indicted last year on charges of felonious assault. He also faces community control sanctions violations. Judge Andy Ballard set the case for trial May 3. It would be the first criminal trial in the county since the pandemic started more than a year ago. Jurors in the case will have to be socially distanced, Ballard said. In an unrelated case, Ballard set a July 8 trial for Fred R. Aldridge, 40, of Ohio River Road, Wheelersburg. He is charged with two counts of aggravated trafficking in 392 grams of meth, 24 grams of fentanyl and two counts of aggravated possession of drugs.

IRONTON â An Ironton man faces three-and-a-half year prison sentence after agreeing to a plea deal Wednesday in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court. Richard Heaberlin II, 51, of Ora Richey Road, Ironton, agreed to plead guilty in a drug case and admitted to violating community control sanctions. Judge Andy Ballard set final sentencing in the case for March 17. Heaberlin faced more than seven years in prison in the case. In an unrelated case, Heaven L. Mullens, 24, of Marion, Ohio, pleaded guilty in a drug case. She was placed on community control sanctions for four years and was ordered to complete a treatment program. Her probation was transferred to Marion County.
