SPELT announces research journal on 37th foundation anniversary

The Society of Pakistan English Language Teachers (SPELT) has turned 37 years old. A seed sown 37 years ago has blossomed into a mature organisation making continuous efforts for teachers’ empowerment.
Gul Jaffri, an active SPELTer and the ceremony’s moderator, said this on Friday as he emphasised the significance of the anniversary celebrations in a virtual press conference.
In spite of the pandemic that affected all facets of life, including education, SPELT continued its commitment of training the trainers as it has been doing so since 1984.
The chair of the press conference was Prof Zakia Sarwar, known nationally and internationally as a seasoned English language teaching (ELT) expert having many honours to her credit. A mover and a shaker, she helped put Pakistan on the ELT map of the world. ....

"Selfless and giving" – Mark Krzanowski, 1963-2021 | Brunel University London

It is with great sadness that we announce that Mark Krzanowski has passed away after a short illness, aged 57. Mark was a passionate and talented English language teacher who was much-loved and respected by colleagues across his field.
A traveller at heart, Mark spent his final days in Ghana, a country he adored and travelled to regularly to spend his winter holidays. Enjoying the sunshine, he had recently messaged friends and colleagues expressing how happy he was.
Mark joined Brunel University London as a Senior Lecturer in February 2019 and was instrumental in managing and delivering a new ESAP (English for Specific Academic Purposes) programme for Brunel’s collaboration with Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications in China, where he spent a lot of his time. Described by his friend as “the most selfless and giving person I have ever come across,” Mark was a dedicated and caring professional who would always go the extra mile to ensure ....
