The Human Rights Council this morning adopted the Universal Periodic Review outcomes of Bulgaria, Marshall Islands, United States and Croatia.
Speaking on the Universal Periodic Review outcome of Bulgaria were China, Cuba, Ethiopia, India, Libya, Morocco, Nepal, Russian Federation, Sudan, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, United Nations Children s Fund, and Venezuela.

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa, Mar 11 2021 (IPS) - COVID-19 restrictions exposed women and girls to heightened abuse – revealing the conditions in which gender-based violence became the shadow pandemic on the continent, a recent webinar attended by parliamentarians from Africa and Asia heard.
Gift Malunga, United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) country representative for Zambia, told delegates that during the lockdown in Zambia, 90% of calls to traditional hotlines between March and May 2020 were related to intimate partner violence.
Malunga was talking at the webinar facilitated by the Asian Population and Development Association (APDA) and supported by UNFPA-JTF. The International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) has been recognized as a very high scorer in the 2021 Global Health 50/50 Report – a review of the equality and gendered-related policies and practices of 201 global organizations active in health and health policy.
IPPF is one of 12 organizations recognized as a very high scorer, and places IPPF in the top 5% of sample organizations used in the report. The 2021 Global Health 50/50 report focused on four key areas for assessment: commitment to gender equality, gender equality and diversity policies at work, gender and geography of gender health leadership and gender responsive of health policy and programmes. ....
