Flats could be built on the site of a former village pub.
The former Waggon & Horses pub in Copthall Lane, Chalfont St Peter, was served with a notice for demolition on Valentine’s Day in 2019, with villagers pleading to save the historic watering hole.
In a desperate bid to save the building, which is believed to date back to at least the 1820s, Chalfont St Peter Parish Council asked Historic England to consider listing it – but their request was turned down.
Now, Ekrem Mahmutaj, from Luton, has submitted an application to build six flats on the site.
The design and access statement says the flats – three two-beds and three one-beds – will be over three floors and the block will have a total of seven parking spaces. ....

The parish council then accused certain nuns of fraudulently conspiring to get the planning permission by misrepresenting the past use of the school’s playing fields, arguing that getting planning consent meant the order was able to sell the site to developers for £31 million.

PLANS to demolish one property in favour of a new apartment block have been thrown out.
Aquinna Homes was refused an application to tear down a two-storey, detached property on North Park, in Chalfont St Peter, in favour of a three-storey block of five two-bed apartments.

The new build would have featured rear balconies, 10 parking spaces and a communal rear garden.
Initial objections were on grounds of “overlooking” and inadequate parking.
Council officers conceded the build would be “harmful to the character of the area” and that of neighbours. ....

Major plans for Model Farm on Gorelands Lane scrapped

Some 83 parking spaces had been outlined, and of the 38 homes proposed, 14 were affordable.
But during an East Buckinghamshire Area Planning Committee, on Tuesday, December 15, councillors agreed with Chalfont St Peter Parish Council the site is isolated, “so residents will be heavily dependent on cars”.
They also had concerns about waste provision and sustainability.
“The only thing I can see that is for this application is this wretched 38 new homes, which are going to be stuck in the middle of nowhere,” said Cllr Julia Burton. “I think it’s absolutely ridiculous.
“It’s not sustainable, it’s wholly dependent on private cars and it’s in a remote location. ....
