Sask. Wheat encourages farmers to participate in the Canada Grain Act consultations

The Saskatchewan Wheat Development Commission is encouraging farmers to get involved in the review of the Canada Grain Act.
The chair of Sask. Wheat, Brett Halstead, says farmers need to make their voice heard during the consultation process because the grain act has a direct impact on their farming operations.
Halstead says the review is long overdue and covers such important areas as grain variety classes, producer payment protection, data reporting and grain grading.
Halstead says farmers have until April 30th to provide feed back on the internet to the Canadian Grain Commission, the agency overseeing the Canada Grain Act. ....

Researchers to help feed the world, protect the planet


“This major investment in USask research is indicative of the key role the university plays in growing Saskatchewan’s capacity as a world leader in the agricultural sector,” said USask Vice-President Research Karen Chad.
“The adoption of new agricultural technologies and creation of competitive, value-added products has the potential for real-life benefits, including new jobs and increased economic prosperity for the province.” 
The ADF program is supported through the Canadian Agricultural Partnership, a five-year $388-million investment by the federal and provincial governments in initiatives for the sector in Saskatchewan. A total of $9.8 million was announced Jan. 12 for 39 agricultural research projects in the province and across the country. More than half were awarded to USask.  ....
